Primary prevention

Primary prevention of rheumatic tricuspid stenosis includes prompt and complete antibiotic therapy in symptomatic patients with suspected group A streptococcal pharyngitis.[6][25][26] Similarly, in patients with a documented history of acute rheumatic fever, secondary prevention or prophylaxis with long-term antibiotic therapy should be instituted following existing guidelines and recommendations.[6][25]

Secondary prevention

Endocarditis prophylaxis is recommended for all patients with prosthetic cardiac valves undergoing dental procedures that involve manipulation of gingival tissue or the periapical region of teeth or perforation of the oral mucosa.[2]
