Behcet syndrome

Monitoring of symptom activity and adverse events secondary to multiple medications is necessary. This requires laboratory and other tests every 2 to 3 months (e.g., complete blood count, electrolytes, liver and renal function for azathioprine or cyclosporine therapy, bone density for corticosteroids, or close monitoring for tuberculosis reactivation if tumor necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors are used). Annual ophthalmologic exams are also recommended.
