Monitoring
Perform regular review appointments to assess and monitor the effectiveness of the treatment, with a view to modifying treatment as required following discussions of pain symptoms, impact on lifestyle and daily activities, physical and psychological status, and presence of any treatment-related adverse effects.[79] Frequency of review will be dependent on response to therapy.
Measure disease severity, progression, and response to treatment using validated symptom scoring questionnaires and tools. See Diagnosis approach. These tools should be used for basic evaluation and at intervals for therapeutic monitoring. Given the impact that chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome can have on sexual function and quality of life, it is important to use generic quality of life measures and instruments used to assess male sexual dysfunction.
