Monitoring

Some patients become chronic carriers, which is defined as continuing to excrete the organism in stool for more than a year but remaining asymptomatic (though able to transmit infection).[40] Detecting these carriers can be done by stool culture. This is more important in endemic countries though practically difficult to implement or enforce.

People who work in occupations with higher risk for transmission, such as food handlers, daycare workers, and healthcare workers, may require testing to confirm eradication before returning to work.
