Prognosis
The outcome for patients with IgAV is usually excellent. Complete recovery occurs in 94% of children.[37] Relapsing or persisting disease is rare but can be seen.[50] One third of patients may have a recurrence within the first 9 months, but the subsequent episode is generally milder; recurrences are more common in older patients and those with nephritis.[51] Increasing age at onset is a risk factor for poor prognosis in children, and may predict nephritis, relapse, and significant proteinuria.[16][27][52]
