Patient discussions
Susceptible women should avoid using contact irritants especially if there is a history of concurrent vulval disorders (e.g., contact dermatitis, lichen simplex, or other dermatoses) or prior Bartholin duct cyst. Sitz baths, especially after intercourse, may reduce mucosal irritation and resultant obstruction. Patients with Word catheters in place should also use sitz baths, and should seek help if the catheter dislodges.
