Other long-acting recombinant human growth hormone (GH)

The development of long-acting recombinant human GH formulations that are given once weekly (instead of daily) are currently a rapidly expanding area. Formulations include lonapegsomatropin, and somapacitan. Lonapegsomatropin is a pegylated somatropin that is approved for use in children ≥1 year of age (in the US) or ≥3 years of age (in Europe) and adolescents who have growth failure from inadequate secretion of endogenous GH. Somapacitan is approved in both the US and Europe for the replacement of endogenous GH in adults with GHD. It is also approved for use in adolescents and children aged ≥2.5 years (in the US) and ≥3 years (in Europe).
