Criteria

American Diabetes Association[1]​​​

In the absence of unequivocal hyperglycaemia, any of the tests should be confirmed by repeat testing on the same sample or on two separate test samples.

  • Random plasma glucose level ≥11.1 mmol/L (≥200 mg/dL) in the presence of symptoms of hyperglycaemia or hyperglyacemic crisis; OR

  • Fasting plasma glucose ≥7.0 mmol/L (≥126 mg/dL); OR

  • Plasma glucose level ≥11.1 mmol/L (≥200 mg/dL) 2 hours after 75 g oral glucose; OR

  • HbA1c ≥48 mmol/mol (≥6.5%).
