Epidemiology

The incidence of clubfoot is approximately 1 in 1000 live births.[1][2][3][4] This varies in different races, with the incidence among Chinese people being 0.39/1000, in white people 1.2/1000, and in Polynesian people 6.8/1000.[1] The estimated incidence in Sweden is around 1.4/1000.[6][7] Boys are affected twice as often as girls.[1][2][7][8][9] Unilateral clubfoot is slightly more common than bilateral (bilateral frequency has been reported as 44%).[1][2]
