Criteria

International Classification of Headache Disorders, 3rd edition (beta version): migraine without aura[1]

A. At least five attacks fulfilling criteria B to D

B. Headache attacks lasting from 4 to 72 hours (in children and adolescents aged under 18 years, attacks may last 2 to 72 hours)

C. Headache with at least two of the following features:

  • Unilateral/bilateral/frontotemporal location, but not usually occipital

  • Pulsating quality

  • Moderate or severe intensity

  • Aggravation by/causing avoidance of routine physical activity

D. During the headache at least one of the following:

  • Nausea and/or vomiting

  • Photophobia and phonophobia

E. Not attributable to another disorder
