Prognosis
As suggested by its name, LSC is often chronic and relapsing, and if untreated can go on indefinitely.[2] Similar to other dermatological conditions characterised by chronic pruritus, such as prurigo nodularis, the management of LSC can be difficult, and long-term prognosis remains guarded.[58] Even after the clearance of lesions, the condition can relapse during a period of psychological stress or, in the case of secondary LSC occurring in the setting of atopic dermatitis, during a dermatitic flare.[1] Some patients may require intermittent therapy for months or years.[2]
