Primary prevention
Contact lens hygiene and avoiding overnight lens wear are key factors in avoiding keratitis. Protective eyewear during dangerous activities and prompt medical attention after ocular trauma are also important.[4] Predisposing conditions such as dry eye, trichiasis, and recurrent erosions should be treated.
Antenatal screening is used to prevent neonatal keratitis (herpes simplex virus, gonococcal).
