Patient discussions

Patients should be educated about premenstrual symptoms and self-help coping strategies, such as stress management and relaxation techniques, exercise, and dietary changes, as part of a holistic approach to the management of PMS/PMDD.[1] They can be advised to continue to monitor physical and behavioural signs and symptoms with a diary and to avoid abrupt changes in diet and medication. Patients may find online resources helpful in understanding and managing the condition. National Association for Premenstrual Syndrome (UK) Opens in new window
