Behcet's syndrome

Monitoring of symptom activity and adverse events secondary to multiple medications is necessary. This requires laboratory and other tests every 2 to 3 months (e.g., full blood count, electrolytes, liver and renal function for azathioprine or ciclosporin therapy, bone density for corticosteroids, or close monitoring for tuberculosis reactivation if tumour necrosis factor-alpha inhibitors are used). Annual ophthalmological examinations are also recommended.
