Monitoring
It is recommended that the Yale-Brown Obsessive-Compulsive Scale be repeated periodically (approximately every 6 months) in order to track treatment progress. Patients on second-generation neuroleptics should undergo metabolic monitoring.[165]
Patients on antipsychotic drugs or clomipramine should be evaluated periodically by ECG screening for potential cardiac toxicity (at baseline and approximately every 6 months once maintenance dose is determined). Patients on clomipramine should have serum levels of clomipramine and desmethylclomipramine evaluated periodically as well (at baseline, with dosage increases, and approximately every 6 months once maintenance dose is determined).
