Screening
The US Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) has concluded that current evidence is insufficient to assess the balance of risks and benefits of screening for thyroid dysfunction in non-pregnant, asymptomatic adults.[33] The American Thyroid Association (ATA) does not recommend for or against routine screening due to insufficient evidence that it would lead to reduced morbidity or mortality.[25] However, serum thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH) should be measured in all patients with known thyroid nodules and in those with signs or symptoms of thyrotoxicosis.
