Monitoring
Patients with mitral stenosis should be seen in follow-up once a year to evaluate for changes in symptoms and to determine if pulmonary hypertension is developing.[22][23]
If history and physical examination detect a change in the patient's condition, repeat echocardiography to determine changes in stenosis severity and pulmonary pressure is indicated.
For patients receiving warfarin, standard international normalised ratio determination with appropriate adjustment is recommended every 6 weeks.
