Prognosis
Treatment is symptomatic and cannot entirely prevent cognitive and behavioural disturbance. The course of disease is progressive, and a steady decline in functioning leads to eventual institutionalisation, loss of independence, and death.
The mean survival of patients with DLB post-diagnosis is approximately 5 years; however, both rapid and slowly progressive DLB forms have been reported.[18]
