Secondary prevention
Patients with NHL treated with chemotherapy and/or rituximab who are positive for hepatitis B virus (HBV) surface antigen, or who have a history of prior hepatitis B regardless of surface antigen positivity, are recommended to receive antiviral therapy to prevent HBV reactivation.[175][176]
Patients should be recommended for screening for HIV (once the diagnosis of primary central nervous system lymphoma or Burkitt's lymphoma has been established). Antiretroviral therapy (ART) should be started in HIV-positive patients. For detailed information on ART, see HIV infection.
