Fanconi syndrome

Generalised screening of the asymptomatic population has no role in this condition. Patients who are known to have proximal RTA or metabolic disorders associated with development of Fanconi syndrome may appropriately be further evaluated. This evaluation should consist of measurement of serum phosphate, urinary glucose, urinary amino acids, and urinary phosphate excretion.
