Prognosis

Prognosis

The course may fluctuate in both primary and secondary RP. Symptoms worsen in cold weather and during seasonal changes with the absolute daily change in temperature and on cold, wet days. Not keeping warm and trauma to the affected areas may precipitate attacks. Attacks may last from several minutes to a few hours. Many people with primary RP report that their symptoms become more mild or even disappear over time. Approximately 13% of patients later develop an underlying disorder such as scleroderma.[89]
