Prognosis
The outlook for most travellers affected by the condition is good, as the condition is self-resolving. However, when jet lag symptoms persist, increasing stress and poor sleep, this may predispose to the development of an insomnia disorder. Effective strategies to cope with jet lag should be devised in these circumstances. For extremely frequent travellers, such as pilots and flight attendants, incorrectly planned work schedules can produce a chronic desynchronisation, with higher incidence of stress-related emotional changes.
