Patient discussions

Patients should monitor and promptly report any temperature ≥100.4°F (≥38°C) to their treating oncologist. However, it is important to note that fever may not be present in a subset of patients with neutropenia and infection. As such, patients and caregivers should be counseled to promptly report any change in status, including but not limited to altered mental status, cough, shortness of breath, abdominal pain, diarrhea, or rash.
