Hypersensitivity pneumonitis

With avoidance, and 1 to 2 weeks' therapy with prednisone, pulmonary function tests (PFTs) can usually be optimized. Prednisone tapering is probably best monitored by pulmonary function testing, realizing that the goal is the maintenance of optimal (which may not be normal) PFTs.

Continue to monitor patients for disease progression, especially where avoidance of the inciting antigen is not possible or wanted by the patient.
