Prognosis

Approximately 90% of patients who can tolerate ≥6 months of macrolide-containing combination therapy have negative sputum culture for 12 months.[44]

The prognosis of HIV-infected patients with disseminated Mycobacterium avium complex (MAC) diseases is directly correlated with the success of concomitant antiretroviral therapy and consequent immune restoration.

Prognosis of MAC lymphadenitis and hypersensitivity pneumonitis is very good.
