Novel video laryngoscopes
The use of the video laryngoscope has been described for the use of securing an airway in an adult patient with epiglottitis.[29]
Racemic epinephrine
Racemic epinephrine is sometimes used as an adjunct in patients with compromised upper airways. It can serve as a bridge to decrease upper airway mucosal edema. It is typically used as a temporizing measure, and does not serve to establish a definitive airway. The benefit of racemic epinephrine in epiglottitis has yet to be established.[30]
