Narcolepsy

Case history

A 17-year-old boy presents with a history of severe daytime sleepiness associated with poor school performance and episodes of sudden collapse triggered by strong emotions or laughter. He also reports recurrent episodes of sleep paralysis and vivid visual hallucinations on awakening. Physical examination is normal.
