Patient discussions
Patients should be counseled regarding the importance of medication compliance and maintaining a low-copper diet in the initial phases of treatment. Patient involvement with a multidisciplinary team is important to help with adherence and for monitoring adverse effects of therapy.
Advise patients that their first-degree relatives should be screened for Wilson disease. See Screening.
