Hepatorenal syndrome

If patients survive an episode of HRS they should be followed up by a gastroenterologist with experience in this area. Renal function and liver function should be monitored.

Patients who have had one episode of HRS are closely monitored as outpatients and should be considered for liver transplantation.

Careful monitoring of liver and renal function is important and patients are encouraged to keep their scheduled visits.
