Prognosis
Trigeminal neuralgia (TN) is a chronic condition. There are few published data regarding the natural history of the condition, but anecdotal data suggest variable periods of remission and relapse. Most patients find at least partial relief with medical therapies, vascular decompression, or ablative procedures, although patients typically become less responsive or relapse over time. Secondary TN appears to be less responsive to therapeutic maneuvers.
