Prognosis

Relapse

Patients have a high probability of repeated use of stimulants after documented acute use, or of documented stimulant use disorder. Holistic psychological and sociological interventions to change lifestyle and treat addiction may help to reduce the high relapse rate. Effective management strategies typically incorporate long-term continuing care in addition to short-term management of exacerbations/relapses.[67][68]

Remission rates from dependence vary depending on study and definition, but range from around 0.45 to 0.16.[128]
