Monitoring

After surgical resection with curative intent, patients should have plasma vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) levels checked periodically to assess for tumour recurrence or metastasis.​ Rising VIP levels or recurrence of symptoms warrants further imaging workup to identify the source of recurrent disease. Imaging studies as clinically indicated.[3]

Patients managed with medical treatment require regular follow up along with careful fluid and electrolyte management.
