Transient synovitis of the hip

Initial evaluation may require a hospital admission or extended stay in the accident and emergency department to ensure that the diagnosis of a septic hip is ruled out. Follow-up is recommended at 7 to 10 days and, if pain persists at that time, further evaluation by an orthopaedic surgeon or primary care physician is warranted to rule out other disorders.[15]Pediatric Orthopaedic Society of North America.
