Factitious disorders

Patients with factitious disorder may react in a variety of ways when their behaviour is uncovered. Some will react violently, leaving the hospital against medical advice or threatening to sue the providers. Others may admit their behaviour and remorsefully cease the illness-simulating behaviour. There is no systematic evidence of the prognosis of patients with factitious disorder after it has been discovered.
