Take care of ulcerations or other breaks in the skin, optimise care of chronic oedematous conditions, and treat tinea pedis to prevent cellulitis.
Primary prevention
Secondary prevention
Oedema management; care of dry skin, ulcers, and lacerations; and treatment of tinea pedis are all ways of preventing subsequent episodes of cellulitis. Antibiotic prophylaxis may be useful in preventing recurrent cellulitis. In patients with chronic oedema and cellulitis, compression therapy may help reduce recurrence.[66]
