Case history
A 45-year-old man presents with acute onset of pain and redness of the skin of his lower leg. Low-grade fever is present and the pretibial area is red, swollen, and tender.
Other presentations
Cellulitis can involve virtually any area of the body and may be associated with an open wound or ulceration. Raised erythema with clear demarcations is a hallmark of erysipelas, a superficial form of cellulitis.
