Prognosis
A majority of patients with epilepsy become seizure-free after trials of one or two anticonvulsant drugs. Estimates of the incidence of drug-resistant epilepsy range from 15% to 35%, with a reported prevalence of 30% to 40%.[55][62][171][172] Further drug trials are usually ineffective, and patients should be referred to an epilepsy specialty centre for consideration of epilepsy surgery or neurostimulation.[55]
