Novel video laryngoscopes
The use of the video laryngoscope has been described for the use of securing an airway in an adult patient with epiglottitis.[30]
Racemic adrenaline
Racemic adrenaline is sometimes used as an adjunct in patients with compromised upper airways. It can serve as a bridge to decrease upper airway mucosal oedema. It is typically used as a temporising measure, and does not serve to establish a definitive airway. The benefit of racemic adrenaline in epiglottitis has yet to be established.[31]
