Secondary prevention

There are no proven preventative measures, but it may be wise to avoid prolonged flexion or extension of the wrist, particularly if forceful. In addition, repetitive movement and vibration through the wrist can exacerbate symptoms. Ergonomic changes to the workplace (e.g., 'ergonomic' keyboards, wrist rests, frequent breaks) might help to minimise some of these factors.[64][65] If the patient knows that they will be using their hands a lot in this way in the near future, it is recommended that they wear a wrist splint 1 to 2 nights before.
