Prognosis is dependent on the underlying aetiology of central hypothyroidism. The prognosis for pituitary adenomas is dependent on the size (micro- versus macro-adenoma) and functionality (prolactinoma, growth hormone-secreting, adrenocorticotrophic hormone-secreting, or non-functional).
