Prognosis
Prognosis is excellent.
Studies have shown a lower incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus, respiratory diseases, Hodgkin’s lymphoma, endometrial cancer, cancer-related mortality, and overall mortality rate in individuals with mild hyperbilirubinaemia due to GS, compared with the general population, possibly related to the antioxidant properties of bilirubin, and not specifically to the UGT1A1*28 genotype.[28][29][30][31]
