Epidemiology
The estimated incidence of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is approximately 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 25,000 live births.[3][4] There are thought to be about 350,000-400,000 people affected by PWS worldwide.[11] The majority of cases of PWS are sporadic, with males and females being affected equally. The condition occurs in all ethnic groups and regions worldwide; however, it is reported disproportionately more in white people.[12]
PWS is the most commonly found genetic cause of life-threatening human obesity.[4]
