Screening

Screening of asymptomatic patients for coronary disease is not recommended. However, all adults should be routinely screened for cardiovascular risk factors including smoking, dyslipidaemia, hypertension, diabetes, overweight and obesity, physical inactivity, unhealthy diet, and family history of premature coronary disease. Calculated estimates of patients' 10-year risk of atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease may guide implementation of some preventive interventions such as medications for dyslipidaemia. SCORE2 and SCORE2-OP risk assessment models Opens in new window [ PREVENT™ online calculator Opens in new window ] [ ASCVD Risk Estimator Plus Opens in new window ] [ QRISK Opens in new window ] In select cases, testing such as CAC score may be reasonable to refine risk stratification.[18][33]
