Life Senior Member
Since Dr Santiago was the Section Chair during Jan 2019 – Feb 2023, he applied for the upgrade during 2022, both as a senior member and a life member to encourage Section Members to apply for this upgrade after being a IEEE member for 40 years. Dr Santiago suggests not to wait that long in becoming a Senior Member of IEEE.
For those who meet qualifications, the IEEE system will recognize those Senior Members who have become life members.

Congrats to Gene Freeman for being the recipient of the Jim Leonard Award!
This award will be given to an individual MEMBER who has performed outstanding service to the Section, Region, and/or IEEE that promotes the objectives of the IEEE.
Lesson Learned: Gene Freeman was submitted with another award, in 2022, although he did not receive the award last year, the Section build upon the earlier submission and learned more about the various awards found in IEEE.
Also, LMAG members are not here for awards but are here to help the other members and young professionals leverage the vast experience from the LMAG members.
The LMAG members would like to help the Young Professionals transition into a Section/Chapter Leadership role. Please contact one of the Section Officers if you would like to be considered in a future leadership role within the section or participate in one of the technical event as well as other events such as STEAM/STEM.
Your participation in IEEE does not require a large amount of time as we have developed the volunteer and support tools to make collaboration and other events easier for you to participate.
See the various career paths found at: Contributions & Stories of LMAG Members | IEEE Pikes Peak Section
The funding of this effort is a result of collaboration among the IEEE Pikes Peak Section, the Computer Society and the Life Member Affinity Group. Several section meetings were held to make between the IEEE Pikes Peak Section and the National World War II Aviation Museum during 2021 and 2022. This was a true team and Leadership effort among the Section/Chapter/Affinity Group collaborating. Those involve making this award possible are Gene Freeman (Chair, Computer Society), John Reinert (Section Treasurer) , David Bondurant (Chair, Life Member Affinity Group) and Dr John Santiago (Section Chair).

2019-2022, Meetings. This section provides a list of meetings between the beginning of 2019 and the end of 2022. It has active links so you can see the description of past meetings.
The website serves multiple purposes: automated real-time Section events & reports via vtools, resume/CV of Section, historical archive of Section activities, and information insurance…that is it’s there when you need it.
Plans to migrate the Section website to Region 5 are forthcoming: migrating from https://site.ieee.org/pikespeak to https://r5.ieee.org/pikespeak. Hopefully, the migration is a smooth one.
