About

Aims & Scope

BMJ Connections Oncology aims to be a leading international platform for the dissemination of peer-reviewed research in the field of oncology. The journal seeks to bridge the gap between clinical practice, scientific research, and translational applications, fostering an integrated approach to understanding and treating cancer. BMJ Connections Oncology welcomes submissions in the following areas:
  • Clinical Research: Studies focusing on the diagnosis, treatment, and management of cancer in patients. This includes clinical trials, case reports, cohort studies, and observational studies that provide insights into patient outcomes, treatment efficacy, and safety.
  • Scientific Research: Basic and applied research that enhances our understanding of cancer biology, genetics, and the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer development and progression. This includes studies on cellular and molecular pathways, biomarkers, and novel therapeutic targets.
  • Translational Research: Research that bridges the gap between laboratory findings and clinical application. This includes preclinical studies, development of new diagnostic tools, and translational studies that move discoveries from bench to bedside.
  • Review Articles: Comprehensive reviews that summarize current knowledge and advancements in specific areas of oncology. These articles provide context and insight into complex topics and emerging trends.
  • Practice and Policy: Articles that address the practical aspects of oncology care, including guidelines, best practices, policy changes, and the impact of healthcare systems on cancer treatment and outcomes.
We invite submissions that adhere to our standards of scientific excellence and contribute to the global effort to understand, treat, and ultimately cure cancer. All submissions must demonstrate sound scientific methodology, robust data analysis, and clear, logical conclusions. While novelty is not a requirement, the research should contribute valuable knowledge to the field. To maximise the accessibility and impact of published research, BMJ Connections Oncology follows an open access model. This allows for the free and immediate availability of all articles to the global scientific and medical communities, facilitating the rapid dissemination of knowledge and advancements in the field of oncology.
