Room: Safety Room (1st floor), Bldg: AES Indiana Operation Center, 1230 W Morris St, Indianapolis, Indiana, United States, 46221, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/470303

The IEEE Central Indiana Joint PES/PELS/IAS Chapter is excited to host Dr. Zhaoyu Wang, a Full Professor from Iowa State University, for a PES seminar on big data analytics in power distribution grids. Attendees will have the opportunity to gain valuable insights from an industry expert, enjoy free pizza, and earn 1 PDH. Don't miss this excellent chance to learn and engage in discussions with a leading professional in the field! Abstract: Recent years have seen a dramatic growth of smart sensors in power distribution grids. The new sensing capabilities, offered by smart meters, micro-phasor measurement units, and SCADA, have extended utilities’ visibility to grid edges. However, the power industry faces new challenges in managing the massive amount of data and extracting useful and actionable information from the measurements. This talk will present a few use cases of distribution grid data. The first one is using SCADA data for measurement and verification (M&V) of the energy saving effect of conservation voltage reduction (CVR). The work is based on a recently published IEEE Standard P3102 CVR Data Collection and Management Procedures. The second one is using various outage records to quantify grid resilience and provide metrics to guide planning and operation. The third one is using smart meter data to develop a model-free framework for dynamic solar hosting capacity analysis. Topic: Safeguarding Digital Identities – A Modern Approach

Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/472886

Abstract: Identity and Access Management (IAM) plays a crucial role in securing digital identities and controlling access to critical systems. This presentation will cover fundamental IAM concepts, including Single Sign-On (SSO), Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and Privileged Access Management (PAM). It will also explore emerging trends such as password less authentication, AI-driven security, and decentralized identity solutions. Additionally, I will discuss key cybersecurity challenges like identity theft, MFA fatigue attacks, and insider threats, along with compliance standards such as NIST, GDPR, and PCI . Industry-specific IAM applications and implementation strategies will provide organizations with a roadmap to enhance security, mitigate risks, and ensure compliance in an evolving digital landscape. Speaker - Nirupam Samanta With over 17 years of expertise in IT, specializing in Identity and Access Management (IAM), Secure System Design, Vulnerability Management, and Risk & Compliance, I bring a proven track record of delivering strategic, secure, and innovative solutions. My experience spans working with diverse IAM and security tools (SailPoint IIQ, Oracle Identity Governance, Qualys VMDR), auditing standards (SOX, ISO 27001, PCI/DSS), and implementing access management protocols (SAML, OAuth, SSO). Certified in CISSP, CCSP, AWS Solutions Architecture, CEH, and ITIL V3, I excel in team management, technical project delivery, and fostering cross-functional collaboration to ensure security and compliance in complex IT environments.
