Recreating the Atanasoff-Berry Computer

The Atanasoff Berry Computer, later named the ABC, was built at Iowa State University from 1939-1942 by physics professor Dr. John Vincent Atanasoff and his graduate student, Clifford Berry. Atanasoff was a professor of Mathematics and Physics and was seeking a way to increase the speed and accuracy of the scientific calculations that he was performing with a Monroe mechanical calculator. Indiana Statutes and Rules for Professional Licensure

The course will explain the role of statutes created by the Indiana Legislature concerning the professions and the role of the Registration Board for Professional Engineers in making and administering rules contained in Administrative Code 864 IAC for engineering. This course includes information on Computer-Based Testing, the 2014 updated rules for Continuing Engineering Education and helping the licensed engineer learn what continuing education activities will satisfy the rules. It also discusses the requirements and composition of the Board and compares the Indiana Continuing Education Rules with those of neighboring states. The session will include questions and discussion from the audience. This course fulfills the rule requiring one hour on Indiana Statutes and Rules. Speaker(s): Vincent P.
