IT Expedition is an initiative led by volunteers from the joint chapter between the Computer and Communications Society and the IEEE student branch of the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia. This program marks the first time we offer half-day technical visits exclusively for our university chapter members, with two visits planned for this year. The first visit is scheduled for mid-April at the Barranquilla Mayor's Office, where participants will tour various departments within the Secretariat of Planning—particularly the IT department. During this visit, students will have the opportunity to observe operations related to IT support, server administration, and more, as well as receive a comprehensive presentation on the suite of software solutions developed at the Mayor's Office to address urban challenges. The second visit, planned for the second semester of the year between September and October, is to Claro, where members will gain further exposure to industry practices and the latest in technology. Te invitamos a participar en este curso teórico-práctico diseñado para estudiantes, docentes e investigadores interesados en el uso del pez cebra (Danio rerio) como modelo en estudios biológicos, biomédicos y toxicológicos. El pez cebra se ha convertido en una herramienta clave en la investigación científica por su fácil mantenimiento, rápido desarrollo embrionario y gran similitud genética con los seres humanos. Durante el curso, exploraremos desde aspectos básicos de su biología y manejo en laboratorio, hasta técnicas experimentales como microinyección, observación embrionaria, y creación de líneas transgénicas. Curso intensivo de programación de 4 clases de 3hs, donde se verá cómo programar con el lenguaje de programación de TypeScript. En el mismo también se verán las buenas prácticas, y cosas relacionadas al paradigma Orientado a Objetos, y un inicio de Programación Funcional. Se verá también, de forma básica, cómo se efectúa la comunicación en Internet a través de protocolos, como el HTTP. Se realizarán programas simples, donde se observarán las características mencionadas y, finalmente, se terminará realizando un programa de consultas a un archivo. No hay requerimientos en cuanto a conocimientos, salvo las ganas de aprender y la constancia, debido a que es un curso intensivo, especialmente para principiantes. Sin embargo, se recomienda tener un nivel mínimo en la programación de cualquier lenguaje para que no sea tan intensivo. También es la clave para desbloquear el potencial de los nuevos dominios genéricos de nivel superior (gTLDs) a fin de fomentar la competencia, la elección del consumidor y la innovación en la industria de nombres de dominio. La Aceptación Universal (UA) es una buena práctica de cumplimiento técnico que garantiza que todos los nombres de dominio válidos y todas las direcciones de correo electrónico funcionen en todas las aplicaciones de software. El Grupo Directivo de Aceptación Universal (UASG) se formó en 2015 para promover la UA y movilizar a las partes interesadas relevantes para que sus aplicaciones estén preparadas para la UA. La misión del UASG es: movilizar a los desarrolladores de aplicaciones de software para que preparen sus productos para la Aceptación Universal (UA), proporcionando motivación, documentación, estudios de caso, herramientas y medidas que permitan ofrecer la experiencia de usuario adecuada al usuario final.
