IT Expedition is an initiative led by volunteers from the joint chapter between the Computer and Communications Society and the IEEE student branch of the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia. This program marks the first time we offer half-day technical visits exclusively for our university chapter members, with two visits planned for this year. The first visit is scheduled for mid-April at the Barranquilla Mayor's Office, where participants will tour various departments within the Secretariat of Planning—particularly the IT department. During this visit, students will have the opportunity to observe operations related to IT support, server administration, and more, as well as receive a comprehensive presentation on the suite of software solutions developed at the Mayor's Office to address urban challenges. The second visit, planned for the second semester of the year between September and October, is to Claro, where members will gain further exposure to industry practices and the latest in technology. Power system oscillation is a significant stability concern for utility companies, especially with the increased interconnection of inverter-based resources (IBRs). Traditionally, oscillations are investigated using phasor data. This presentation approaches the problem by examining the actual voltage and current waveforms underlying the phasors. It is found that oscillations are the appearance of beating waveforms in the phasor form. The beating waveforms, in turn, are caused by interharmonics (defined per IEC 61000-4-30). Notably, it can be proven that the presence of interharmonics is both a necessary and sufficient condition for phasor oscillations, and synchronous generator oscillations can be easily explained using interharmonics. Multiple field measurement results will be used to substantiate these findings. The interharmonic insights could lead to many innovative applications. Two of them will be shared here. The first one is to locate oscillation sources using measurement data. The second one is to determine generator participation factors based on small-signal power system dynamic models. El pez cebra se ha convertido en una herramienta clave en la investigación científica por su fácil mantenimiento, rápido desarrollo embrionario y gran similitud genética con los seres humanos. Durante el curso, exploraremos desde aspectos básicos de su biología y manejo en laboratorio, hasta técnicas experimentales como microinyección, observación embrionaria, y creación de líneas transgénicas.
