Nearby event: EU Radio Equipment Directive Updates (September 19)

On Thursday, September 19th, the IEEE Central Illinois Section (CILS) will host a technical talk at Bradley University on the topic of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC).

This presentation will review the requirements for compliance under the European Union (EU) Radio Equipment Directive, a CE Marking Directive, and recent updates that include new requirements for cybersecurity under the new Cyber Resilience Act, which includes all wireless related products placed on the market, with a direct focus on manufacturers of host devices that have wireless capabilities as well as associated digital elements.

MEETING LOCATION

This technical talk will occur both online via WebEx and in-person on the Bradley University campus in Peoria, IL. SPEAKER BIO

Jack Black has over 40 years OF experience in the field of electromagnetic compatibility, including material development, components, standards, and international compliance testing. Mr. Black published and presented over 30 technical papers and articles in this field, and participated on several standards committees.

For the past 23 years he has been the Business Development Manager at DLS Electronic Systems, a large independent compliance testing laboratory and consulting firm, based in Wheeling, IL.


He has attended Minnesota State University, in Mankato, MN, Oakton College in Des Plaines, IL, and his degree from National Louis University, in Wheaton, IL, with additional training in microelectronics at Auburn university in Auburn, Alabama. He is a Life Senior Member of the Institute of Electric and Electronic Engineers, IEEE, and is currently the long serving Chairman for the Electromagnetic Compatibility Society Chicago Chapter, Region 4, as well as an executive committee member of two IEEE EMC International Symposiums and is an active member of the IEEE Chicago Section.
